What are flashes and floaters?
If you are seeing a floating spot, you are not alone. Many people experience these floating spots. Floaters can appear suddenly and have many shapes and sizes. They can look like little bugs, threads, or cobwebs. Sometimes you may also have the sensation of flashing lights (flashes).

The question is often asked whether "Ready Readers" are harmful or not.
Reading glasses work because they magnify the text or object you are looking  at through a process called linear magnification.  This means that the spectacle lens only magnifies the image, no correction takes place.  Most people have some form of corrective error and if this error is not incorporated in the spectacle prescription, the linear magnification effect would magnify the uncorrected error, causing eyestrain or even accelerated deterioration.

The term laser surgery has become a buzzword in recent times and has most certainly elicited interest within both the contact lens and spectacle lens wearing populations globally.

Firstly it is important to understand what the term RLS (refractive laser surgery) means. Refractive surgery refers to surgical procedures that will correct or alter the refraction of the eye.  That means that a person who is farsighted or nearsighted can have a surgical procedure done to alter the shape of their eye in such a way that the light is focused properly on the back of the eye to allow normal clear vision.  Refractive Laser surgery therefore describes the surgical procedure through which the shape change of the eye is brought about by means of a laser.

Spectacle Lenses are generally manufactured form two general types of materials,  either glass or hard resin (Referred to as plastic).  These materials have unique qualities and properties.
